St. Helena School proudly extended their sixty year tradition of academic excellence to three and four year old children when they implemented a Core Knowledge Preschool Program during the 2007 - 2008 school year. The program provides a nurturing Christian learning environment where students of all faiths are welcome and respected. Children are actively engaged in learning and are provided with opportunities to make choices, experiment, and explore. St. Helena School provides a teacher certified in the specialization area of Early Childhood Development and fully trained to understand and meet the special needs of young children. An educational assistant provides aid in the classroom. The University of the Southwest partners with St. Helena School to provide additional support through their Early Childhood Development Program, that is overseen by Dr. Corinne DiBlasi. This program allows USW students to help in the classroom and offer additional supervision and learning opportunities for our students. St. Helena School takes precise measures to ensure the safety of all children at all times. Our classrooms are specially designed for preschool aged children. Play is fundamental in learning as well as social and emotional development at the preschool level. Our playground equipment ensures our young students have opportunities for safe play and adequate muscle development. St. Helena facility is licensed by the State of New Mexico and accredited by Advance ED. The full day program runs from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM. The half-day program runs from 8:00 to 11:30 AM. Please visit with the school administrator if these times will not work for you.
